Adults are tiny fly-like midges, active only at night. They search out Aphid colonies by scent. Once a colony is located, they lay their eggs beside it. The small orange larvae hatch in 2- 3 days & feed on aphids, killing more than they can consume.

Outdoor releases can be done once temperatures reach 21C (68F.) Excellent for controlling aphids in trees.
OPTIMUM CONDITIONS: 21-25C (68-77F).
RELEASE RATE: Release midges every 7 to 10 days for 2 to 3 releases until predators are established. In orchards, 5,000-10,000/ha (1,000-4,000/acre) repeated 1 to 3 times, 1 to 2 weeks apart until predators are established.
SPECIAL NOTES: Aphidoletes are a native predator.
They require a minimum of 16 hours light (can be a 60 watt light per 10 m. sq./2000 ft. sq.) to fly and cycle.
